Veel banenverlies bij SMB’s US
But a new report by payroll administrator ADP finds that small and midsize businesses accounted for a higher rate of job loss in December than large businesses – the first time that’s happened since ADP started its monthly survey in 2000. “More and more of these firms are in survival mode,” William Dunkelberg, chief economist at the National Federation of Independent Business, told Reuters about the ADP jobs report. “They kept thinking consumers will make it, but then December rolls around and sales are still not going anywhere — in fact they’re going down — and finally [small businesses] run out of money.” Source

Google layoffs / FusionSearchers is hiring!
The Associated Press reports that Google has released “a substantial number” of its contract and temporary employees, but the exact number isn’t known.The news isn’t a surprise; in October, Google co-founder Sergey Brin told the San Jose Mercury News that the company would reduce some of the 10,000 contractors on its payroll as a cost-cutting move. Vijf manieren om je CV te verknallen

In mijn dagelijkse praktijk zie ik regelmatig excellente CV’s en mooie social-netwerkprofielen. Maar helaas kom ik ook CV’s en profielen tegen die afbreuk doen aan de presentatie van een kandidaat. Hierbij de, in mijn optiek, vijf meest gemaakte fouten.
1. Versiebeheer
Veel mensen vergeten hun CV en hun social-netwerkprofielen (zoals bij LinkedIn of Xing) te synchroniseren. Het CV is mooi opgepoetst, maar op het web staat nog steeds de verouderde presentatie. Ga er maar vanuit dat je toekomstige werkgever je netwerkprofielen voor een sollicitatie nagaat. En hiermee kom ik gelijk op nummer 2:
2. Liegen
Machiavelli zei het al: “het is beter te schijnen dan te blijken”. Maar je kunt dit ook te ver doorvoeren. Jezelf promoveren van ‘systeem beheerder’ tot ‘manager ICT’ kan best op een CV (what’s in a name). Maar je verantwoordelijkheid opkrikken van 50 naar 5000 werkplekken, dat kan nu net weer niet. Vervelend en slordig wanneer dit uit komt.
3. Schrijf- en spelfouten
Moet ik dit echt uitleggen?
4. Negativiteit
Je in negatieve bewoordingen uitlaten over je huidige project / werkgever, of op je social-netwerkprofiel vertellen dat je je maar even ziek meldt na dat fantastische feest dit weekend. Starters op de arbeidsmarkt maken deze fouten vaak.
5. Te veel vakjargon en afkortingen
Niet iedereen begrijpt : XML, SOPA, FOF, ERP, LAN/WAN, SAN/NAS, BI, BAPI R3, ABAP, etc.
