Cupid has part-exchanged his bow and arrow for a mobile phone as over half of today’s singles (54%) are finding love through social networking, according to a poll by Wadja, the mobile web, media and messaging service.
The research of 500 social networkers across Europe into mobile living and mobile social networking, indicates that 37% of users flirt, organise their love life and meet new people through social networking.
58% of those interviewed use social networking to keep in touch with friends and 87% say their social lives would suffer without it. Only 5% believe their social life would not be affected without access to social networking sites.
According to In-stat: Mobile social networks are quite popular with the Millennial generation, just as social networking is, reports In-Stat http://www.in-stat.com . Blogging, photo and video sharing, location-based socialization services, games, SMS, and IM will eventually be combined to afford the mobile user the entire social networking experience from a handset application, the high-tech market research firm says. The mobile handset will simply become an extension of the user in most aspects of life.

Just about everyone I talk to is very excited about mobile Internet. In 2006, the Japanese government proudly announced that more people used the Internet through their mobile phones than through their computers. Online services are all talking about their “mobile strategy” and VCs are flocking to fund the latest “mobile startup”
I don’t think there is anything wrong with mobile or with some of the great new mobile applications and devices, but we have to be careful to remember that most mobile networks that actually work are built on infrastructure that is operated by a small number of mobile operators who use a lot of regulated and closed technology. read on>>>
